To live a healthy life, you basically need:
- enough sleep
- enough hydration
- enough physical activity
- a balanced diet
- enough luck to not have a debilitating disease or disorder
- enough money
- a dense enough social life
And probably a couple more of other things.
As you can see, this list is incredibly boring. It’s mostly common sense, backed by vast amounts of scientific evidence. There’s no silver bullet, no magic trick, no hidden secret, no killer this nor ancient knowledge that.
The fact this list is incredibly boring explains why the wellness industry has to repeatedly come with the wildest bullshit: the promise of accessing some hidden knowledge is a powerful narrative to keep its potential customers/preys hooked and engaged. How many followers a wellness influencer reminding people to drink enough water could gain, compared to a wellness guru pretending that they know some mysterious ancient miracle recipe that unlock the secret of eternal youth?
